Communications Center

Midwest City, OK

Quinn designed a 74,000-square-foot Communication Center for Rose State College. The building includes a 1,500 seat Performing Arts Center, expandable to 2,600 seats, along with classroom and lecture spaces. The facility also houses the Music and Art Departments along with the student newspaper offices.

The design of the Communication Center evolved through the functional needs of the user and the incorporation of architectural elements and characteristics of the existing college.

The new exterior of the hotel now has the fresh, new design of Hampton Inn & Suites being built today.

Metro Technology Centers
Springlake Campus

Oklahoma City, OK

MCA Serves At-risk Students MCA serves students, 15 and older, who face adverse barriers toward achieving a high school diploma and career training. MCA serves not only students but their families as well.

MCA Brings the Community to Students MCA’s Parent Resource Center, Mentorship Program and community partners work with students, family and community members.

Parent Resource Center is a family focused program enabling parents and family members to become more involved with their children’s education.

Mentorship Program connects students and caring individuals. Mentors provide support, advice and friendship. They also serve as positive role models.

Community Partners provide a network of supportive services between the school and the community.

A 10,000 sq. ft. Medical Clinic is included. This will be staffed with medical professionals (physicians, dentists, nurses, mental health counselors). This clinic will serve the students and the neighborhood.

Part of the building is to have a “green” roof with “soil” and plants on the roof which can be assessed by the students and others.

A “geo-thermal” heating and cooling system using the latest technology of heat exchanging with multiple deep wells for energy efficiency.

Fred Quinn, founder of Quinn + Associates, said his firm designed each inch of Metro Career Academy to create a strong learning environment that focused on earth-friendly features. “Designing a LEED-certified building is a unique challenge”, Quinn said. “You must combine beauty and usability while showcasing energy-savings features. I’m proud to know the building went from a sketch to a tool that will create bright futures for Oklahoma City area students.”

Reed Center

Reed Center
A municipal conference center
Midwest City, OK

The 60,000-square-foot Reed Center includes offices and two large exhibit halls with smaller conference rooms adjacent. The flexibility of the spaces encourages large exhibitions, as well as smaller conferences that can meet in the large, state-of-the art great room, and then break up into smaller rooms for more intimate discussions.

The development of the site is in harmony with the large balconies and terraces of the building. The building has been planned to take advantage of cascading ponds and canopied seating areas, as well as to be visible from the nearby major interstate for conventioneers unfamiliar with the area.

Part of the funding for this building was provided by federal funds after Midwest City was declared a disaster area after the May 3, 1999 tornadoes. Consequently, the ground level of the building, within the large exhibit hall is composed of a hardened structure to meet the design guidelines for a storm shelter. Walls, windows and doors have

all been designed to withstand another such event.

The new conference center acts as an anchor for the local community by providing the surrounding public and businesses state-of-the-art technology for conference, exhibit and communications events.
